GMC (Postpartum fever) Incident

Hospital: Gandaki Medical College and Teaching Hospital, Pokhara, Nepal

Type of violence: Physical

Event: Agitated relatives had pad-locked the hospital and threatened the doctors and other healthcare workers following mortality of a 19-year-old lady on the 6th post-operative day of cesarean section. She was admitted in ICU with postpartum pyrexia of unknown cause. After 2 days of the incident and even after the negotiation, aggressive crowd (said to be patient's relatives) vandalized the hospital.
