BPKIHS (MI) Incident

Hospital: BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan, Nepal

Victims: 2 On-duty resident doctors and staff nurses

Type of violence: Physical

Event: The deceased's kin manhandled the on-duty resident doctor claiming "negligence" after a 72-year-old patient who had suffered from heart attack and was admitted in the ICU passed away during the course of treatment. Some medical instruments, windows and a door of the CCU had also been broken in the incident. BPKIHS management had exempted all treatment expenses and offered to provide free of cost treatment to deceased's family members in the future to settle the incident.
